My parents are retired and they don’t work now. My mother worked as an accountant at a paper factory. My father was a long-distance bus driver. They worked hard, raised the family and gave me and my elder brother the best education possible. Life without their support couldn’t have been so nice. They always teach us to do our best in life and respect other people. They love us and they are always really happy to see us in their house.

My parents live in the country, and I live in town. I don’t see them often now. They used to come by bus and visit me when they were younger. But now, when they are older, they say the trip is too long and tiring for them. So now I try to visit them at least twice a month.

I went to visit my mum and dad last month, with my brother. They live by the lake, so in the mornings we can hear the sound of waves and feel fresh air through the bedroom window. There is a beautiful old church on another side of the lake. Sometimes we walk all together there, just talking and picking up wild flowers and blackberries.

My mother’s name is Elena. She likes cooking very much. She is good at making delicious pies and cakes. When she cooks them the fantastic smell spreads all over the house. She has many cook books and likes trying new things.

My father’s name is Oleg. He likes gardening. He grows all kinds of vegetables, berries and flowers. He also cuts the grass in the garden and fixes everything that is broken in the house. When my mum was ill last autumn and she had to stay in bed for many weeks, my dad planted beautiful roses just under her bedroom window. So she could open the window and admire them.

I am very proud of my parents. They are over sixty years old now. My mother and father have been married for over 40 years and they still love each other. And I thank god that I have such great parents.
